Our "little 6th Grade Historians" take us on a journey to the era of the Greek Revolution

Our "little 6th Grade Historians" take us on a journey to the era of the Greek Revolution

6th Grade students, during the interdisciplinary week which was dedicated to the bicentennial of the Greek Revolution of 1821, shed light on the known and unknown aspects of the Greek Revolution.

They collaborated, collected, and organized information in order to present the knowledge they gained through several educational applications. The battles and heroes of 1821 came to life through their presentations. The values and ideals of the Revolution were revived through poems and works of Philhellenes.

By studying and presenting primary and secondary historical sources, the students realized and highlighted the female contribution to the Revolution. At the same time, the interdisciplinary approach of aspects of that period (calculation of the density of the population, calculation of the area of the newly formed Greek state with map measurements using scales, study of tables with indicators of government revenue and expenditure of that time, etc.) gave students a holistic and in-depth understanding of that period, enabling them to explain the events that followed and reach to this day.

Our students, taking the role of "little historians", took us on a journey to the glorious past, thus celebrating in the most beautiful and creative way the 200 years from the Greek Revolution of 1821!
