Innovation Project “The Safe Train of the Future” for the Lego Robotics Competition

On February 24, 2022, Mr. Christos Vrontos, professor at the Department of Supply Chain and Logistics Management of the International Hellenic University, holding two patent certificates in the fields of Informatics and Robotics, visited our school.

Mr. Vrontos visited our school within the framework of the Lego® FLL Robotics competition in order to provide his opinion on the innovation project “The Safe Train of the Future,” which was created by our school Robotics team “A.T.O.M.S.” It’s an innovative idea based on which a distance measurement sensor automatically activates the braking system of a train, so that it can stop as quickly as possible and its collision with a physical obstacle can be avoided (car, rock, tree, animal or even a human). In addition, the airbag system is activated since the distance between the train and the obstacle might be shorter than the required in order for the train to stop.

When the members of our team presented this innovative idea, while using a maquette constructed for the Lego Robotics competition, they received very positive feedback from Mr. Vrontos. We warmly thank him for his valuable contribution to our idea.

Best regards,

A.T.O.M.S.
