FLL School Edition Event

Being pioneering once again Mandoulides Schools organized the First Lego League School Edition Event.

For the 2nd consecutive year, 6th grade students of Mandoulides Schools realized the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) School Edition program. It is the well-known FLL International Robotics and Innovation Competition, adapted for conduction in the school environment. The preparation was done during the 2nd hour of the IT lessons and all students of the class contributed to it.

The competition required the construction of a robot designed to conduct certain missions, the detection of a problem related to the themes of the competition (CityShaper) and the development of an innovative solution. At the same time, fundamental elements such as team spirit, integration, impact, discovery and fun were present.

Mandoulides Schools are the first school in Greece to realize this program. They had embraced it long before Mrs. Niki Kerameus, Minister of Education and Religious Affairs of Greece, announced the integration of Robotics in the school curriculum of Greek Elementary Schools.

The competition was held from 9:00 to 13:00 of this day in a really festive atmosphere. It took place in the yard of the Elementary School of Mandoulides Schools and all 6th grade students comprised the 17 teams that participated in it.

The students competed in the Robot Game as well as the Core Values, according to the competition standards. Their work was evaluated and they managed to get distinguished for the construction of the robot, its programming and their projects, while developing skills such as cooperation, mathematical reasoning, problem solving, creativity and innovation that will be proven invaluable for their future.

Mr. Kostas Vasileiou, founder of eduACT, and Mr. Dimitris Siskos, owner of Ο3 and Trainer, honoured the event by their attendance.

5th grade students attended the event through Teams.

Part of the event was the granting of medals and diplomas. Cups were granted to the two teams of Mandoulides Schools that excelled in the Panhellenic Robotics and Innovation Competition FIRST LEGO League Greece “RePlay.” Furthermore, the Schools teams “SMARTies,” “A.T.O.M.S,” and “OMG” demonstrated remarkable performance in the competition. In fact, the first 2 of them received the Rising All Stars Award and the Engineering Excellence Award respectively.

We strongly congratulate our students for their outstanding performance and we wish them the best luck in the international championship, which is going to take place from 24 to 27 of June.
