The presentation of the novel “Imaret, Two Friends and Grandpa Ismail” by Giannis Kalpouzos took place at the bookstore Ianos. The event was attended by 5 Mandoulides Schools’ students (K. Athanasopoulos, D. Giannoulidou, S. Digktsi, I. Liakou, A. Foka), who, under the guidance of their teachers, studied the book and participated in the presentation by posing insightful questions regarding the inspiration, literary choices as well as the author’s views on current events that relate to teenagers. During a time when fanaticism, intolerance and terrorism are flourishing students had the opportunity, through the efforts of Giannis Kalpouzos, to bridge the gaps between cultures and attitudes, to realize the value of tolerance and reconciliation with that which is different, focusing on what unites them rather than what separates them from foreigners or individuals of their age who follow other religions.
