21th PanHellenic Student Competition in Astronomy & Space

Mandoulides Schools’ students, continuing their tradition of receiving distinctions in Astronomy and Space competitions, reached the top once again! Our students took part in the 3rd and final phase of the 21st PanHellenic Student Competition in Astronomy & Space 2016 "IPPARCHOS", which involved junior and senior high school students from all over Greece.

Student of the 12th grade, G. Papachatzakis, won 1st place and student of the 10th grade, R. Tsiamis, ranked 3rd and now has the opportunity to visit the NASA facilities in Huntsville, Alabama, USA for a period of 7 days this coming July (G. Papachatzakis visited NASA in 2015).

Both students can compete in the 4th phase of the competition, which is addressed only to those who received the top ten scores in the third phase, and wish to staff the five-member National Olympic Astronomy and Astrophysics Team, which will represent Greece in the 10th International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics, to be held in Bhubaneswar, India from 9 to 19 December, 2016.

Our student of the 11th grade student O. - T. Tzamtzis was awarded an honourable mention.
