Microsoft Showcase School - Skype in the classroom

A total of 53,051 kilometers were covered by the students of Kindergarten and Elementary School in their virtual trips to 19 countries in Europe, America, Asia and Africa, bringing the world into the classroom and assuming the role of the citizens of the world.

Through the Mystery Skype game, they learned Geography while playing and having fun. Learning became a game, as they were asked to discover the location of the class they were connected with, by asking questions to the students they saw on the screen. Through Skype, they also visited places of interest and listened to experts talk to them. They had the opportunity to ask them questions and learn about people’s lives in ancient Corinth or penguin life in Penguin Rock, Scotland.

Our Earth became small, there were no borders any longer and our little students were able to work with peers from every corner of the world on projects with various themes, exchanging views, getting to know each other and creating links, thus envisioning a world where people will care for one another and live in peace.
